Impact

  • In 2020, Florida voters approved Amendment 2, which established a series of annual $1 increases to the state minimum wage. The final scheduled increase takes effect on 30 September 2026, bringing the rate to $15.00 per hour. For eligible tipped employees, the required direct cash wage will increase to at least $11.98 per hour. Employers may apply a tip credit of up to $3.02 per hour toward the $15.00 minimum wage, provided the applicable federal requirements are met. If the employee’s direct wages and qualifying tips do not meet the applicable minimum wage, the employer must make up the difference. The $15.00 rate remains in effect through 2027, after which Florida’s inflation-based adjustment process resumes, with the first adjusted rate taking effect on 1 January 2028.
