Transition from On-premise SAP solution to Cloud-based SaaS

Background

Vodafone’s HR and payroll processes in North Africa were found to be outdated and manual, resulting in inefficiencies and errors. The company was utilizing separate platforms for HR and payroll, which were not integrated, leading to multiple data entry points and a lack of visibility and control over the HR and payroll processes.

Despite previously using Success Factors, Vodafone realized the need to shift the entire system and sought a reliable partner that could streamline its HR and payroll processes, reduce errors, and provide real-time visibility into its HR and payroll data.

Mercans' Approach

1

Mercans assisted Vodafone with its HR and payroll challenges by undertaking a comprehensive analysis of the existing HR and payroll processes

This analysis was conducted to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the company's current systems, processes, and controls. By doing so, Mercans aimed to determine what changes were necessary to enhance the efficiency of Vodafone's HR and payroll processes.

2

During this analysis, Mercans also evaluated Vodafone’s compliance with local regulations

This evaluation was crucial to identify any areas of non-compliance and to suggest ways to ensure compliance with the applicable regulations. Identifying areas of non-compliance allowed Vodafone to avoid potential legal issues and penalties.

3

After conducting this analysis, Mercans developed a comprehensive plan to streamline Vodafone's HR and payroll processes in North Africa

This plan incorporated the identified areas of improvement, and aimed to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and compliance of Vodafone's HR and payroll processes. The plan also included recommendations for implementing new HR and payroll systems, if necessary, to support the new streamlined processes

4

Overall, Mercans' approach to solving Vodafone’'s HR and payroll challenges was a systematic and comprehensive one

By conducting a thorough analysis, identifying areas of improvement, and developing a comprehensive plan, Mercans was able to provide Vodafone with effective solutions that addressed its specific HR and payroll challenges.

Mercans' solution

  • Mercans provided a solution for Vodafone by implementing an integrated HR and payroll system that automated the entire payroll cycle
This new system replaced Vodafone’s previous separate payroll system. Mercans utilized their HR Blizz platform, which acted as the new payroll engine for Vodafone. Additionally, Mercans implemented bilingual payslips in Arabic, English, and other languages, integrated time and attendance data for payroll purposes, and generated all necessary reports.
  • The new system implemented by Mercans was GDPR-compliant, ensuring that all data was managed in accordance with the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation
An automated data retention policy was also established, which automatically took care of data retention once the data retention period had been reached. These measures helped ensure the proper handling of sensitive employee data.
  • As a result of the new system, Mercans was able to significantly reduce Vodafone’s payroll processing time from 6 hours to just 15 minutes
This improvement in efficiency was a substantial benefit for Vodafone.
