Impact

  • Ireland is gradually increasing social insurance charges over several years as part of a phased plan to support the State Pension system. From 1 October 2026, the standard Class A1 employee PRSI rate increases from 4.20% to 4.35%. The standard employer rate increases from 11.25% to 11.40%, while the reduced employer rate for employees earning €441 per week or less increases from 9.00% to 9.15%.
  • Employees earning €352 per week or less continue to pay no PRSI, while the PRSI credit for earnings between €352 and €424 per week continues, subject to the applicable €12 weekly maximum. As the change takes effect during the tax year, payroll teams should apply the new rates to pay dates on or after 1 October 2026.
