UAE Labor Law Updates
A new Localization strategy to boost a higher UAE nationals inclusion in the private sector
The ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (“MOHRE”) has recently made a further new statement related to the expected changes to the existing UAE Employment Law, the principal legal framework governing the labor matters in the UAE private sector, aiming to underline again the intention of the government to introduce new requirements and modifications to increase the level of UAE nationals’ inclusion within the private workplace sector.
We, at Mercans, as immigration and employment law specialists, are following and analyzing strictly this situation, so to provide our complete support and unparalleled employment strategy advice to our Clients, to whom we will come up with a clear insight to evaluate the most appropriate actions in term of employment in UAE and the possible necessity to outsource part of it.
Mercans, as leading global PEO partner, is currently supporting several multinationals in UAE and the rest of GCC countries with its tailored and professional employee outsourcing services.
We noticed during the past few years several actions from the MOHRE to introduce new localization policies to enhance the rights of UAE nationals in the private sector, ranging from:
- A general increase of the “Emiratization” targets and quotas;
- A reservation to UAE nationals of several roles within particular industry fields, and the formal advertising of any new roles from selected group of companies on the MOHRE’s Tawteen gate portal.
The promised upcoming UAE Labor Law amendments to facilitate the further Emiratization increase has no fixed implementation timelines from the government and the related extent of the possible changes have still to be fully clarified, but Mercans will timely provide its clients all the further necessary updates on this situation.
