Saudi Arabia – Gradual Easing of Restrictions.
The Ministry of Interior for Saudi Arabia, has announced the below five steps for the gradual lifting of the COVID-19 related restrictions.
First:
From Thursday 5 Shawwal 1441 AH corresponding to 28 May 2020 until the end of Saturday 7 Shawwal 1441 AH corresponding to 30 May 2020, the following changes will be implemented:
- Allowing travelling between regions and cities in Saudi Arabia by private car during the non-curfew hours.
- Opening of the following businesses during the non-curfew hours:
1- Wholesale and retail shops.
2- Commercial centres (malls). - The following business must remain closed: beauty salons, barber salons, sports and health clubs, recreational centres, cinemas, and other business which do not allow for social distancing measures to be implemented.
Second:
From Sunday 8 Shawwal 1441 AH corresponding to 31 May 2020 until the end of Saturday 28 Shawwal 1441 AH corresponding 20 June 2020, the following changes will be introduced:
- Free movement of people from 6 am to 8 pm across Saudi Arabia, excluding Makkah.
- Opening of all commercial businesses.
- Allowing of Friday prayers, excluding in Makkah.
- Resuming the work of private and government sector offices.
- Resuming domestic flights.
- Resuming travel between all regions of Saudi Arabia.
- Opening of indoor restaurants and cafes during non-curfew hours.
- The following business must remain closed: beauty salons, barber salons, sports and health clubs, recreational centres, cinemas, and other business which do not allow for social distancing measures to be implemented.
- Enforcing social distancing in public areas and banning of public gatherings of more than 50 people.
Third:
From Sunday, 29 Shawwal 1441 AH corresponding to 21 June 2020, lifting of all restrictions, except in Makkah.
Fourth:
The first step will be implemented in Makkah from Sunday, 8 Shawwal 1441 AH corresponding to 31 May 2020 until the end of Saturday 28 Shawwal 1441 AH corresponding to 20 June 2020. The second step start from Sunday 29 Shawwal 1441 AH corresponding to 21 June 2020.
Fifth:
All citizens and residents of Saudi Arabia should follow the procedures that limit the transmission of infection, such as wearing masks, hand washing, sterilization, and social distancing.
