Keep learning, keep growing, and never settle

If I had to describe myself, I would say that I am approachable and an honest team player. So far, my career journey has been really interesting and rewarding. Previously, I focused on payroll management and I wish to remain in this field because I am learning so much about systems integration and configuration. As a former TMF employee, here at Mercans, I am greatly expanding my experience. While I was primarily focused on China before, I now oversee payroll operations across APAC. Formerly, I was more involved with payroll calculations, but now I get to work more closely with the core product, which I thoroughly enjoy. As a result, I have more opportunities to work together with clients, solve problems, and provide them with business services.

Of course, working across different time zones with a global team is a challenge. I work hard to maintain some work life balance but sometimes, I work on the weekends to solve client queries.

In payroll and compliance, there are a lot of aspects and no one person can handle them all. However, at Mercans, all compliance is handled by HR Blizz, and I helped set it up. As a result, compliance tracking and management can now continue as usual across Taiwan, Hong Kong, mainland China, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, and Singapore. This is a big deal, in my opinion.

My approach to supporting clients

We meet biweekly and for payroll reviews monthly. I prepare the agenda, and escalation points are discussed, as well as any additional requirements. Our unique approach involves regular communication with our clients.

Payroll in the next five years

I strongly believe that Mercans will dominate payroll technology and be the biggest frontrunner and market player in the future. There is no other company in the industry that is making so much investment in its product development and that is a gamechanger in the industry.
