Malaysia – Increase in Salary Ceiling for SOCSO & EIS Contributions

Article Navigation

Malaysia’s Ministry of Human Resources, through the Social Security Organisation and Employment Insurance System Act 2017 (also known as SOCSO and EIS) enforced a new salary ceiling for contribution purposes, effective 1 October 2024.

The increase in the contribution salary ceiling will be from RM5,000 to RM6,000 per month with interim brackets and their respective contribution amounts.

Employees who earn more than RM5,000 per month will follow the Third Schedule of Act 4 and the Second Schedule of Act 800 to determine their contribution amount.

Further details on the above change can be found on the SOCSO and EIS website.

Please contact your Mercans’ services delivery team for any additional information regarding the implications of the above change.
