Financial Controller

As we expand our operations, we seek a highly experienced and motivated Financial Controller to join our team in an offshore, remote capacity.

Position Overview

The Financial Controller will oversee the Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), and General Accounting functions. This role requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in financial management, strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and consolidation, and previous experience working with NetSuite and multinational companies. The ideal candidate will have a background in the software industry and a proven track record of building and leading remote teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the AR, AP, and General Accounting functions, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
  • Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, including financial statement preparation, consolidation, and analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and controls to support business objectives.
  • Provide strategic financial guidance and insights to senior management, assisting with decision-making and planning.
  • Manage and mentor a remote team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and scalability.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements and liaise with external auditors as needed.
  • Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards, regulations, and industry trends, advising management on potential implications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master’s degree or CPA/ACCA qualification preferred.
  • Minimum 10+ years of relevant experience in financial management, with prior public accounting experience required.
  • Strong understanding of IFRS and experience with consolidation processes.
  • Previous experience working with NetSuite and multinational companies is essential.
  • Background in the software industry is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex financial concepts to diverse stakeholders.
  • Hands-on leadership style, with a willingness to work closely with the team and lead by example.
  • Proven track record of building accounting functions from scratch and managing remote teams.
  • Strong focus on process improvement, controls, and attention to detail.
