Compliance QC Specialist

A Compliance Auditor is responsible for ensuring, that clients’ payroll calculations adhere to all applicable tax, social security and labour law regulations. They are responsible for maintaining Mercans’ internal Knowledge Base with the relevant regulatory information related to the following areas:

  • Income Tax and Social Security Rates
  • Statutory Filings and Payments Related Processes
  • Standard Operating Procedures
  • Statutory Wage Type Catalogs
  • Country-Specific Data Dictionaries
  • Labor Laws
  • Data Privacy Laws
  • Gross-to-net Payroll Calculation Simulations

They will work closely with Mercans’ In-Country Experts (ICEs) and Subject-Matter Experts (SMEs) to collect, analyze and summarize the applicable regulations in format, that will allow Payroll specialists to verify the correctness of their payroll calculations and technical team to implement the respective regulations on the payroll application.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Managerial/Supervisory:

  • Manages/Supervises ICEs to ensure that the statutory information is received and incorporated into payroll processes without any delays.
  • Makes recommendation to the management for improving the efficiency and quality of the delivery service.
  • Provides and/or organizes internal training sessions to the consultants to improve their qualifications and skills.
  • Prepares periodic reports to the management with respect to the operational and managerial issues encountered and identifies issues that require management actions.

Compliance & Quality Control Responsibilities:

  • Define a standard set and format of information that needs to be maintained for each country.
  • Gather and analyze the required statutory compliance information.
  • Synthesis the statutory compliance information and make it available to the payroll operations and technical staff on Mercans’ online Knowledge Base.
  • Capture any changes in the stator compliance environment and issue respective statutory change alerts.
  • Identify any process or systems gaps that could impact Mercans’ ability to generate accurate and statutory compliant payroll calculations.
  • Implement processes and quality control standards for ensuring that payroll specialists complete all statutory compliance activities on time and accurately.
  • Support the Implementation Leads and technical teams with developing an understanding of the applicable statutory regulations for accurate configuration of the payroll software.
  • Conduct periodic quality control audits and checks of payroll operations.
  • Ensure Mercans’ compliance with applicable Data Privacy regulations.
  • Monitors the compliance with Mercans’ internal and channel partners’ (when applicable) Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Performs quality assurance checks during the implementation of new accounts and on an ongoing basis for active clients.
  • Ensures service delivery compliance with the ISO and SOC2 requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable payroll tax and labor law requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
  • Ensure that internal SOPs and statutory regulations summaries are continuously updated and reflect the latest regulations.
  • Answers consultants’ procedural questions by researching and interpreting SOPs and statutory regulations.
  • Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Accounting or Human Resources administrations and Masters’ Degree, e.g. MBA, M.Sc., etc. is preferable.
  • At least 5 years of experience with the implementation of global payroll outsourcing projects.
