Implementation Program Manager
The Program Manager is responsible for overseeing Global Payroll implementation projects and acting as a single focal point for program management-related activities for clients’ and Mercans’ teams. This position is responsible for leading multiple payroll implementation teams and executing global payroll implementation projects across multiple geographies and clients.
The Program Manager has the overall responsibility for the successful implementation of projects based on the established implementation timelines and methodology. This role is responsible for key stakeholder management, including briefings with the client’s executive management teams.
The Program Manager acts as a leader exhibiting a strong talent for project coordination and delegation. Their role includes being motivated by a desire to optimize productivity and nurture program success from inception to completion. Oversee global payroll outsourcing & SaaS implementation projects from their initiation until transition to Business As Usual (BAU) teams.
The Program Manager exhibits strong leadership skills including coaching, developing a diverse workforce, managing a team of Project Managers, instilling a commitment to quality and excellence, encouraging collaboration, promoting the flow of information among all participants, and providing clear direction on how to meet project goals.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Executive Stakeholder Management : Provide strategic and operational leadership to Mercans’ implementation organization. Ensure successful management of internal and external stakeholders, including leading Steering Committee meetings, Project Status calls, preparation of Steering Committee presentations, and Project Status Reports.
- Global Scope of Work: Create Scopes of Work (SOW) by carefully detailing the projects’ objectives, deliverables, timelines, resources, and other key elements. Initiate and set goals for implementation projects according to the client’s objectives and expectations.
- Global Project Execution: Ensure that implementation projects are executed in accordance with established timelines, budgets, service levels, and contractual scopes. Plan implementation projects from start to completion, including deadlines, milestones, and processes. Ensure that all implementation resources follow the established implementation processes and best practices.
- Implementation Resource Planning & Personality Development: Assess the capabilities and skills of implementation resources, identify skill gaps, and take corrective actions to close the identified gaps. Mentor and guide implementation resources and ensure that the implementation organization is staffed with highly motivated and skilled individuals.
- Project Governance: Identify and implement innovative program management approaches and solutions that lead to continuous improvements in implementation processes. Effectively communicate program governance models, implementation timelines, and methodology to internal and external stakeholders. Define successful project governance models and processes that ensure that all risks, dependencies, and limitations are identified and mitigated in a timely manner.
- Organizational Improvements & Initiatives: Provide guidance and input to other internal functions that enable Mercans to achieve higher performance standards and client satisfaction levels, including Product, Compliance, and BAU teams. Identify technology-based solutions for streamlining and automating implementation processes, including automated deployment of new SaaS instances. Analyze current processes and identify areas for improvement. Develop plans for process improvements and lead the execution of these plans. Contributing towards the continuous improvement of Global Programme Management Methodologies.
- Strong Client Engagement: Ensure efficient communication and information exchange between Mercans’ and clients’ implementation projects’ team members. Build confidence and trust with clients on Mercans capabilities and develop innovative solutions to exceed clients’ core business objectives.
Requirements & Qualifications
- More than 10 years of experience managing and leading global payroll implementation projects.
- Five or more years of experience in an upper-management role, preferably in program management.
- Exceptional skills in leadership, time management, facilitation, and organization
- Hands-on management experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven knowledge of project management processes and best practices
- Prior experience managing remote teams and leading projects with challenging requirements and timelines
- Highly motivated and energetic
- Able to adapt to changing priorities
- Able to work extended hours, when required
- High level of stress tolerance
- Project management certification (PMI/CAPM or PMP, PRINCE2)

- Ensure that the new accounts are implemented within the provided implementation timeframe and in accordance with the implementation schedules agreed upon with the clients. 100% Implementation Go Live Target achievement. Ensure that at least 90% of all implementation projects are completed by their initial target go-live dates.
- The Project Management Toolkit, Project Plan, Raid Log, Defect Log, and Project Manager Checklist are to be updated on the Monday board for every project. The project health report has to be 100% green.
- Ensures that internal SOPs and Implementation Checklists summaries are continuously updated and reflect the latest regulations
- Manage 3-4 Project Managers, assign project Manager goals to them and ensure timely review of those goals and their achievements, and provide Monthly review for each Project Manager to the Implementation Director.
- 100% adherence to Change Management Process based on Scope of Work.
